Why do a project?
In order to provide our honors students with an authentic experimental design experience, a semester long science research project will be completed as a course requirement for all honors science classes. From development of a research topic to the presentation of results in a professional manner, the project has been designed to mirror the scientific process followed by grad students and scientists all over the world.

Grade Level Requirements:
The project is tiered according to grade level and past science fair experience
and will include the following components: Honors General Science: A focus on topic selection, research, experimentation, and analysis of results. Students will submit a research notebook, research paper, tables, and graphs according to the directions in the packet. Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics: A review of topic selection, research, experimentation, and analysis of results with a focus on preparing a presentation to share project results with the scientific community. Students will submit a research notebook, research paper, tables and graphs, and present a 10 minute oral presentation to a panel of science teachers. AP Biology and AP Physics: A review of topic selection, research, experimentation, analysis of results and preparing a presentation to share project results with the scientific community, with a focus on preparing an abstract and polishing the paper for potential publication in a scientific journal. Students will submit a research notebook, research paper with tables and graphs, an abstract, and present a 10 minute oral presentation to a panel of science teachers. |
